Background
I was born in southern California, where I was raised, but attended college in Minnesota where much of my family lives. My former residences include: Orange County, CA; San Luis Obispo, CA; Fargo, ND; Minnesota and the wonderful town of Castle Rock, CO. In my personal life, I enjoy spending time with my adorable mutt, Humphrey. You can find us exploring a trail around a state park or running free at any given dog park. When I am not out with Humphrey, chances are I am spending time with my family who live in the local area. Weather permitting, we frequently get together and barbeque or enjoy a family game night. The family favorite for dessert is brownies with the most decadent frosting on top. A pan of these brownies can easily be devoured in minutes.
While attending college as a Pre-Med student, I became invested in the idea of treating the whole person, not just a condition or a set of symptoms. My personal health journey included experiences that left me questioning if there was a better way to treat people other than what conventional medicine offered. Might there be more to consider about us as individuals than just basic, vital statistics? As I pursued an education in health, I was introduced to acupuncture and Oriental medicine. Intrigued with this alternative form of medicine, I attended South Baylo University in southern California and graduated in 2005. After completing my board exams and attaining licenses in both California and Colorado in, as well as my national certification in 2006, I began to practice in Colorado where I have made my home.
Oriental medicine continues to inspire me every day. Fueled by seeing patients able to live their lives in a more complete and healthful way, I enjoy helping those that seek to improve their well-being. I see my role in people’s lives as a health and wellness partner; to work with individuals to set and achieve their goals. In an effort to continue my education, I have taken specialized courses in cosmetic acupuncture, fertility and reproductive medicine, NADA or the national acudetox system, community style acupuncture and crisis acupuncture from Acupuncturists Without Borders. While I enjoy the challenge of treating any condition, my practice has gravitated to women’s health, stress and anxiety, and pain management. My treatment style is focused on a light touch with the needles, while adhering to my Traditional Chinese Medicine training.
